The ARC of the Ozarks was created by  a group of parents that had children with disabilities in 1959.  Their purpose was to guide and support individuals in directing their lifes and being a part of the community.SOAR Program started in 2006 and it was to reach people with disabilities to give them access to the community and so they could get the resources they need to function in the community. It gives them exposure to possible jobs they might be able to perform in the community, and experience in gaining useful life skills. Participants are evaluated for their functioning level before they experience jobs that might fit their abilities.

Stable Companions is proud to be a partner with the ARC and SOAR Programs in our local community.  We love getting to meet all the 60 participants in the program.  They each have unique needs and abilities from intellectual limitations, to being blind, or deaf or physical disabilities. We find projects to fit their individual skill set whether it is reading a diagram, measuring lumbar, or putting insulation up in our tack room!
